Traumatic aneurysm of the superficial temporal artery: a case report

Traumatic aneursym of superficial temporal artery is an uncommon lesion. Blunt traumas of war, firearm, motorized vehicle and sport injuries are common causes. In this case, traumatic aneursym of superficial temporal artery that occurs after scalp trauma in 74 years old male patient, was reported. Patient who suffers from a mass in his forehead ten days after trauma was admitted to our clinic. Selective angiography of the right temporal arttery was performed as traumatic aneurysm was suspected upon the findings of physical examination and cranial computerized tomography studies. The aneursym was detected. The proximal and distal part of the aneurysm was ligated and it was totally removed under general anesthesia. The histopathological investigation confirmed the presence of the traumatic aneurysm. Especially in hairy skin injuries, traumatic lesions should be considered as an aneurysm. Diagnosis, treatment, and surgical strategy must be planned by the help of these informations.

Süperfisiyel temporal arterde travmatik anevrizma: Olgu sunumu

Süperfisiyel temporal arterin travmatik anevrizmasý nadir görülen bir lezyondur. Savaþ, ateþli silah, motorlu taþýt ve spor yaralanmalarý gibi künt travmalar sýk karþýlaþýlan nedenlerdir. Bu yazýda, 74 yaþýnda bir erkek hastada, künt kafa travmasý sonrasý süperfisiyel temporal arterde geliþen travmatik anevrizma sunuldu. Travmadan on gün sonra alnýnda þiþlik yakýnmasý ile hastaneye baþvuran hastanýn yapýlan muayene ve kraniyal bilgisayarlý tomografi incelemesi sonucunda travmatik anevrizmadan þüphelenilerek selektif sað superfisiyel temporal arter anjiyografisi yapýldý. Anjiyografide sað süperfisiyel temporal arter üzerinde anevrizma görüldü. Genel anestezi altýnda anevrizmanýn distali ve proksimali baðlandý ve total olarak çýkarýldý. Histopatolojik inceleme sonucu travmatik anevrizma olarak bildirildi. Özellikle saçlý deri yaralanmalarý nda travmatik lezyonlarýn anevrizma olabileceði göz önünde bulundurulmalý, taný, tedavi ve cerrahi strateji bu bilgiler ýþýðýnda planlanmalýdýr.
