RETROPERITONEAL APPENDICITIS PERFORATION AND PLEURAL EFFUSION

We report a case who was admitted to our hospital with pleural effusion and diagnosed as perforated acute appedisitis with retroperitoneal abscess formation. Appendectomy and retroperitoneal abscess draninage was performed. Retroperitoneal appendicitis perforation, as cause of abscess formation and pleural effusion, is discussed, and the literature is reviewed.
